My credit is around 570. I would like to increase it, but I was wondering what the cut off between "bad" & "not so bad, sorta fair" credit was, as I am planning on applying for a card to increase my score RESPONSIBLY. After paying off all of my debt ( which made me feel GREAT!!!), I need to rebuild my credit.

Suggestions?

I have two credit cards both have membership services. Both report to all three credit agencies. And both offer the service of credit watch, with score watch. Why do the scores not match, I understand the the three reporting credit agencies will be different, but shouldn’t the info reported be consistant from one wedsite to another. If yes how reliabel are anyone scores who really can give a real reported score. I also understand that the FICO system is only used by Equifax, what are that two other systems?

I was just today approved for a credit card. When I applied I thought it was 5.99 FIXED for the life of the loan and today I looked over the application again and its a 5.99 VARIABLE for the life of the loan. So that doesn’t really make it worth it (I’d get to nervous)
But I remember hearing (I think) that having UNUSED credit helps your score? Or should I just go ahead and cancel the card?

my friend told me my macys card will only lower my credit-NOT raise it.

I recently turned 18 and im in a great living situation. i live with my dad, make about 1000 a month and im a musician. I wanted to buy a new bass and amp, but more importantly need to start my credit. I already have the money to buy the bass today, but i wanna see if i can start my credit with this purchase. The stores i went to say i need at least a 700 score to apply for their credit.
Is there any credit i can apply for, without having to pay financing and apr and so on without having credit to begin with. My plan is to buy the bass with credit, pay it off right away, and probably cancel the card right after.
